NYMCは、合唱にご興味をお持ちの方は歌唱レベルを問わず、大歓迎です。もし今、合唱にご興味があって入団を迷っておられるようでしたら是非、一度見学にいらしてご自分の目でご覧になって実際に体験してみて下さることをお勧めいたします。
The New York Mixed Chorus warmly welcomes individuals who are interested in choral singing, regardless of their level of experience or musical background. Those who are considering joining but remain uncertain are encouraged to attend a rehearsal as a visitor, observe the ensemble, and experience its activities firsthand.
NYMCには合唱経験の豊かな団員もおりますが、楽譜の読めない合唱経験全くなしという団員も多くおります。その為、全体だけでなく各パートの音源も事前にメンバー全員に提供されたり、有志で補助的な追加練習を行うなど、様々な音楽・合唱レベルの団員が各自のペースで練習ができるよう工夫されています。
While the chorus includes members with extensive choral experience, it also has many participants with little or no prior musical training, including those who do not read musical notation. To support this diversity, practice recordings for each vocal part are provided in advance, and additional optional rehearsals are occasionally organized by volunteer members. These efforts enable individuals with different levels of musical ability to develop their skills at their own pace.
また、毎週の練習時間内に一人15-20分ずつ、ボイス・トレーナーの先生が個々のレベルに合わせてご指導いただく機会も年に数回あります。お蔭で「音域が広くなった」「声量が増した」等の声も聞かれ、歌うことがとても楽しくなります。日本語での合唱曲が大半で、練習を始める頃は、苦手な曲、あまり好きでない曲もありますが、練習を重ねた数ヶ月後、皆の心が一つとなりついに合唱のハーモニーの素晴らしさを味わうことができます。
Several times a year, a professional voice trainer provides individual instruction during regular rehearsal sessions. Each member is given approximately 15 to 20 minutes of personalized guidance tailored to their level and needs. As a result, many members have experienced improvements such as increased vocal range and stronger vocal projection, enhancing their enjoyment of singing. The repertoire consists primarily of Japanese-language choral works. Although some pieces may initially feel unfamiliar or challenging, continued practice over several months allows members to experience the richness and unity of choral harmony.
毎週火曜日19-21時、日系人会館や近隣のスタジオにて練習しています。和気藹々として初心者でも気軽に参加できますし、練習の他に食事会、合宿、更には、地域貢献活動等を通し団員同士がお互いに支えあって明るく、楽しく、とても良い雰囲気で活発に活動しています。それでいてしっかり音楽性の追求もしており、また指導してくださる先生の方々に感謝の気持ちを持ちつつ練習に励んでいることも団の素晴らしさの一つです。 メールで見学にお出でになれる日を是非ご連絡下さい。その日の練習曲の楽譜をご用意してご一緒に練習できますことを心よりお待ちしています。
Rehearsals are held every Tuesday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Japanese American Association and nearby studio spaces. The chorus maintains a supportive and welcoming environment in which beginners feel comfortable participating. Beyond regular rehearsals, members strengthen their connections through social gatherings, retreats, and community outreach activities. The organization balances a warm and collaborative atmosphere with a strong commitment to musical excellence, and members approach their work with appreciation for the dedicated instructors who guide the ensemble.
Prospective members are encouraged to contact the chorus by email to arrange a visit. Sheet music for the day will be provided, and visitors are welcome to participate in the rehearsal. The chorus looks forward to welcoming new members.
